It all started just after the Civil War. The paint can was invented and things went down hill after that! It depends on which way you look at it though. Because of the paint can, industrial strength solvent based paints were born and our grandfathers would tell their sons, and their grandsons that these were the best paints because of their durability!
What did Grandpa know??! He didn't know that just over a hundred years later and after the first Earth Day that paint manufacturers would begin to re-formulate the paints we use today. These paints have to be durable, because consumers demand it, and with technology, the rapid improvement of eco-friendly paint is possible!
Green is a color. It's also the term for eco-friendly products that are made without toxic ingredients. Color Trendz only sells paints, plasters, wallcoverings, flooring and deck and floor stains and sealers that contain low voc's (volatile organic compounds) the smelly stuff in products that make you want to hold your breath or not use them at all!
Personally, as a professional using these products all the time, my mission was to only use and sell paints and plasters, etc. that contained no voc's.
What is a VOC? - Traditional water-based paints contain things like ammonia, formaldehyde and ethylene glycol (anti-freeze). These ingredients cause us to be sick and are known to deplete the ozone layer. Our paints and plasters contain none of these.
All Green Products Are Not Created Equal!
Any product can be called "green" if it contains fewer grams of VOC's per liter, depending on the product. A paint can be called "green" and carry a "green seal" even if it's LOW VOC and have up to one quart of VOC's per gallon to be considered "green". What's a "V.O.C."?? Volatile Organic Compound, the stuff that makes up that "fresh paint smell" is really things like formaldehyde, anti-freeze and other things that can make us sick. These ingredients are in conventional, water-based paints.

Think Outside the Big Box!
We know about the weekend warriors out there, but here's what you should consider: The United States Environmental Protection Agency, E.P.A. ,estimates there are more than 69,000,000 (that's million!) gallons of un-used paint in U.S. households. And at least that many have been thrown into landfills.
Color Trendz believes that most of those were due to wrong color selection or too much paint for your project!
